HELP INSPIRE THE NEXT GENERATION OF FEMALE STEAM LEADERS
DIY Girls is seeking individuals to join our Board of Directors. We’re a growing STEAM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) nonprofit organization located in the Northeast San Fernando Valley, whose mission is to increase girls’ interest and success in technology, engineering, and making through innovative educational experiences and mentor relationships. Our organization develops and implements programs and activities designed to encourage engagement with technology, promote self-confidence, and support career aspirations in STEAM-related fields. We are a supportive community for girls driven by an interest in creating and building with technology.
Board of Director Responsibilities

- Participate in all organized fundraising campaigns and events.
- Represent DIY Girls’ values/work by serving as an ambassador to the community.
- Participate in decision making around issues, policies, and other board matters.

- Serve on at least one standing committee (Governance, Finance, Fundraising).
- Act in the best interest of DIY Girls and avoid conflicts of interest.

Description
DIY ("Do-It-Yourself") Girls’ mission is to increase girls’ interest and success in technology, engineering and making through innovative educational experiences and mentor relationships. We're a supportive community for girls driven by an interest in creating and building with technology.
DIY Girls uses a three-pronged program approach that integrates engagement, capacity building, and continuity to ensure girls’ success. We offer after-school and summer programs that provide hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) experiences for girls. Girls learn technical skills and apply them by creating their own creative projects and inventions.
DIY Girls has served over 4000 girls in Los Angeles since 2012.
