In JA Career Speakers Series, a volunteer guest speaker visits the classroom and shares information about his or her career, work, and education experience. (Grades K-12)

During the Fall 2020 school year, JA of Northern California will partner with over 3,000 educators from 26 counties across our state and place volunteers in their classroom virtually. Opportunities are available in K-12th grade classrooms. Educators from a variety of subjects welcome volunteers from a variety of careers. JA NorCal will match you with an educator who would like their students to learn more about your job, JA NorCal will also set-up and coordinate the details for the virtual room.

Time commitment:
30 minutes volunteer registration and briefing to learn about your education, job, and career journey
30 minutes review and confirmation of date and time with JA NorCal staff and educator (possibly facilitated by email)
1 hour presentation prep
30 minutes logistical review of presentation
30 minutes implementation of presentation in the virtual class

JA NorCal will provide the JA Career Speaker Series curriculum to the educator, who will prepare the students and to the volunteer to assist with the creation of their virtual presentation. Volunteers will provide their digital assets to be used in their presentation.

Junior Achievement of Northern California (JA) achieves this mission through teaching students about their expanding roles as individuals, consumers, employees, employers, and productive members of our society. Our regional headquaters is located in Walnut Creek, and we have branch offices in San Jose and Fresno. We currently operate in the following counties:

Alameda, Calaveras, Contra Costa, Fresno, Humboldt, Inyo, Madera, Marin, Mariposa, Mendocino, Merced, Mono, Monterey, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Kings, Tulare, Glenn, and Tuolumne.

  • Must be at least 16
