The High School Chemistry Teacher serves as the provides all chemistry instruction for grades 9-12 at Red Cloud High School, planning and implementing engaging lessons and activities. The Chemistry Teacher also imparts to students an appreciate of chemistry and its various applications.
This position is part of the Red Cloud Volunteer Program and the Oyate Tȟeča Wauŋspekiya AmeriCorps Program.
Red Cloud Volunteers commit to doing justice through education, living simply in intentional community, in solidarity with their neighbors, and engaging a living spirituality rooted in one's own tradition, as well as the Catholic Lakota heritage of Red Cloud School.
As an AmeriCorps member, this position also assists with after-school programming, bus driving, and academic interventions, to support the educational and transportation needs of students on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

Description
Red Cloud Volunteers work for and stand with the Oglala Lakȟóta people on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
Pine Ridge is located in Oglala Lakota County, one of the three poorest counties in the country (based on per capita income), but it is also one of the richest and most beautiful communities in terms of culture, spirituality, hospitality, and landscape.
Volunteers serve nearly 600 Lakȟóta students in a K-12 Catholic School System, which is jointly administered by the Jesuits and the Lakȟóta people.
During the ten-month term of service, which can be renewed for up to three school years, Volunteers work as classroom teachers or support staff. Volunteers also assist with bus driving, coaching, and after-school activities.

- This is a tenth month commitment, beginning July 20, 2020 and ending May 24, 2021. The position is approximately 40-50 hours per week, including preparation, instruction, and support work.
