New York Says Thank You Foundation, started in 2003 at the suggestion of a 5-year-old boy, is a growing national and global pay it forward service movement that is creating transformative solutions based on survivor empowerment in disaster relief, education, and the arts. The mission of New York Says Thank You is to build hope and provide healing to people around the world as a way to continually "pay it forward" for the humanity, kindness, and volunteer spirit New Yorkers - and all Americans - experienced on 9/12.
Our Stars of HOPE program empowers children to use the healing power of art to transform communities impacted by a natural or man-made disaster. Our Stars of HOPE program reaches broad and deep in strengthening communities in need, impacting at-risk youth, and bolstering the mental health of children, families and entire communities in the wake of tragedy. Stars of HOPE has empowered an estimated 80,000 disaster survivors and volunteers to transform communities impacted by disaster in 200 communities around the US and abroad.
