THE FREE BOOK BUGGIE is a 501(c)3 non profit whose mission is to provide free books to children, with a focus on the under-served populations. Like other nonprofits, we have had to rethink & reorganize how this gets done, all while keeping everyone safe. We continue to partner with local organizations to get books into the hands of the kids & families that need them the most.
Over the last year, TFBB has provided thousands of books to locations across the Twin Cities. By providing free, age-appropriate books, parents are more likely to read to their children, kids will take pride in ownership of their books, stay busy, read more and continue learning.
Some of our volunteer opportunities are: (Following ALL social distancing guidelines)
- Sort donated books
- Bag/box books for distribution
- Pick up &/or deliver books to various locations
- Read stories virtually for Facebook
- Identify organizations that need books
- Attend events to assist children in choosing books
- Identify new partner organizations
- Support our mission financially

Mission: To provide books to children and ignite a passion for reading that empowers each child to explore a world of opportunity. Vision: We envision a world where all children have their own home library and become lifelong learners through the joy of reading. Our aim is to accept new and pre-loved children's books, keep them out of landfills and give them all away to children across Minnesota and beyond. We value our core belief that ALL children deserve the right to access age-appropriate books to have in their homes. We are proud of our all-volunteer organization and look forward to growing and having Free Book Buggies bookin' it across Minnesota!
Description
The Free Book Buggie is a non profit that is passionate about books and sharing the love of reading with all children. Our goal is to provide age-appropriate books that show children reading is fun, allow them to dream, learn, go on adventures, and be empowered to shape their future.
What we do:
- collect thousands of donated books
- sort our books by reading levels, baby up to high school chapter
- fill the Buggie with books & travel to events across the Twin Cities
- empower children to choose books THEY like
- volunteer "reading buddies" provided at certain events
- supply children's books to organizations in need
- partner with over 300 organizations
- restock empty Little Free Libraries!
