Room to Read welcomes people passionate about reading and dedicated to doing good for others. Room to Read was founded by one of the first social entrepreneurs, John Wood. Room to Read encourages creativity and innovation in friendraising and fundraising to give the gift of literacy to children all over the world.
Gather a few friends and turn something you love into an event to celebrate literacy and support the work of Room to Read. Room to Read focuses on teaching children to read and helping adolescent girls stay in school through life skills workshops.
Host a bake sale, a book swap, a barbells for books, a beers for books, a community dinner, a jump rope competition, cupcake wars for words, a hike for books, or a casual gathering among friends to design and decorate bookmarks and learn more about the importance of literacy locally and globally.
Literacy is a gift that lasts a lifetime. Find our tribe and have fun through helping others.

Room to Read Believes World Change Starts With Educated Children.
We envision a world in which all children can pursue a quality education, reach their full potential and contribute to their community and the world.
To achieve this goal, we focus on two areas where we believe we can have the greatest impact: literacy and gender equality in education. We work in collaboration with communities and local governments across Asia and Africa to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children, and support girls to complete secondary school with the life skills they’ll need to succeed in school and beyond.
The New Jersey Chapter of Room to Read is run by dedicated volunteers who believe in literacy and education.
We'll work with your schedule.
This is a Virtual Opportunity, with no fixed address.
