Keep Pensacola Beautiful is looking for NEW members to join their debut Youth Advisory Council. This council is open to HIGH SCHOOL students going into the 10th, 11th or 12th grade in the fall of 2020. We're accepting applications until JULY 1st.

If not attached, the application for Keep Pensacola Beautiful’s Youth Advisory Council can be found on Keep Pensacola Beautiful’s Facebook page or can be requested via email from lauren@keeppensacolabeautiful.org. We ask that you also provide a brief resume and a recommendation letter from someone other than a family member. It may be a teacher, employer, mentor, etc. Please send your application, resume, and recommendation letter to Lauren Doubek at Lauren@keeppensacolabeautiful.org.
ABOUT: This is a new opportunity in Escambia County for high school students to participate in a service-learning and leadership development program. 10 members will be given the opportunity to develop and coordinate their own beautification project within their school or community. They may also contribute to Keep Pensacola Beautiful’s programming, participate in training sessions, and visit local municipalities/businesses, while acting as ambassadors and leaders for youth service.
REQUIREMENTS: Mandatory attendance at meetings taking place in August, April, and May. Attend at least 5 out of 7 meetings lasting 1-2 hours in the remaining months. Participate in at least one Keep Pensacola Beautiful event. Attend 1 Keep Pensacola Beautiful board meeting. Participate in the development and execution of the chosen yearly project.
ELIGIBILITY: Be 15-19 years old by June 1, 2020. Be enrolled in public, private, or home school and in grades 10, 11 or 12 by August 2020. Be a resident of Escambia County. Be responsible for their own transportation to and from meetings and events.Be able to commit to a term from August 2020 - May 2021 and meet the requirements listed above within that time frame.
BENEFITS: All time spent with the council may count towards school volunteering hours, including Bright Futures. Resume-building. Recommendation letter from a KPB staff member (if requested). Professional development experience. Networking with like-minded students across the county. Eligibility to apply for Keep Florida Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful’s Youth Advisory Councils.

Our Corner (formerly Keep Pensacola Beautiful) has been serving Escambia County for 40 years. As a Keep America Beautiful affiliate, we aim to improve the quality of life in Escambia County by addressing common environmental challenges. Currently, our efforts are focused on education, litter reduction and recycling initiatives.
