The Publicity Coordinator manages communications strategies to generate increased awareness and support of the B.O.N.E.S. organization. Specifically, the Coordinator will focus on drafting content such as news releases and marketing materials, and provide content oversight and approval for all communications aspects. The Coordinator will oversee a support team of direct reports including the following volunteer positions: Social Media team (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and Website director.

This position reports to Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages communication plans and campaigns for approval by the Board of Directors to support all areas of the organization’s mission including intake, fostering, adoptions, volunteer attraction, retention and engagement, fundraising efforts and special events.
  • Provides content oversight, implementation and management of the organization’s social media initiatives. Directs the work of the social media team to ensure coordinated, quality and consistent messaging.
  • Oversees the research, edit, and proof of content that will be published on the B.O.N.E.S. website. Plans content ­in conjunction with the Website director. Participates in content optimization meant to increase traffic and engagement.
  • Manages the creation of copy, which could include brochures, news releases, print and web ads, presentations, e-mail campaigns, and other printed and electronic materials, depending on the communications strategy and plan.
  • Provides Board of Directors with monthly updates which demonstrate the status and impact of communications campaigns.

Qualifications

  • Current B.O.N.E.S. volunteer or willing to complete a B.O.N.E.S. volunteer application, and be committed to the B.O.N.E.S. mission
  • Proven writing and editing skills
  • Social media knowledge, including how to build campaigns using social media
  • Able to work independently and within teams
  • Knowledge of regional media markets and contacts
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

B.O.N.E.S. was founded in 2003 for the purpose of rescuing beagles and placing them in forever homes. B.O.N.E.S. is registered in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization.

B.O.N.E.S. is an all volunteer organization, comprised of dedicated people who want what is best for beagles in their area.
