ORGANIZATION: Big Brothers Big Sisters-Pikes Peak

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado - Pikes Peak

Colorado Springs CO

We inspire, ignite, and empower potential.

Sports Buddies is an interactive mentoring program that provides unique opportunities for children to experience participatory and spectator sports. Many of these children do not have an opportunity to join sports teams or participate in the wide variety of athletics and activities that available to them through Sports Buddies.

Big Brothers Big Sisters’ plan and schedule events lasting 3-4 hours, provide structure and monitoring during activities, including monitoring and supporting the development of each mentoring relationship.

Volunteers go through an interview, background checks, and provide references.

Some activities that have been done before are: miniature golf, indoor golf, sled hockey, indoor skiing (at Ski Maxx), stand up paddle boarding, pickle ball, indoor rock climbing, watching minor league baseball, and more.
