Mission Statement

Mission Statement

The SHARE Food Program is a nonprofit organization serving a regional network of community organizations engaged in food distribution, education, and advocacy. SHARE promotes healthy living by providing affordable wholesome food to those willing to contribute through volunteerism.

"DO GOOD, FEEL GOOD, EAT GOOD"

A smart idea that brings community and healthy food together.

Description

SHARE, Self Help and Resource Exchange, is a program that empowers people to make a positive difference in their lives and those of their neighbors by linking individuals and community resources.

SHARE provides resources and technology to build and support self-sustaining community institutions in which all may participate, serve, and lead with dignity. SHARE's efforts are rooted in response to a spiritual call to social justice.

Description: SHARE is a program where people can purchase food packages worth $40 to $45 for only two hours of volunteer service and the cost of the package. SHARE is open to everyone--there are no restrictions. SHARE works because of its high level of participation, its devoted volunteers, and its dedicated host sites.

SHARE offers a wide variety of food packages to meet customers' needs. Along with its value packages, SHARE offers a wide varitey of meat packages, a produce package, and during the summer months, Farm Fresh packages, which feature frutis and vegetables from family farmers in Lancaster County, PA. SHARE also offers a wide variety of individual grocery items, and accepts many forms of payment, including cash, credit and debit cards, money orders, and EBT (food stamps). For the Farm Fresh packages, SHARE also accepts Farmers Market Checks.

SHARE currently serves Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks, Chester and Delaware Counties, as well as Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, metro New York, and the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

SHARE Philadelphia was started in response to increasing local need for food by some of our area residents. SHARE has no income eligibility requirements and continues to offer a great value for a much needed resourceAs its programs have expanded and grown, SHARE continues to provide nutritional food not only to the economically disadvantaged, but to all segments of the community. And it is only through the efforts of the community and volunteers that SHARE continues to be successful in its mission.
