Are you a dependable, safe and courteous driver who can help us make this important delivery?
Volunteer Transportation Specialists deliver life-saving blood products from Red Cross distribution facilities to hospitals, using a Red Cross-owned vehicle. We need you to commit to 2-4 shifts per month (or more if you can!). Typical shifts are about 4 hours.
You’ll also need to meet these important qualifications:
Have a valid state driver's license and proof of insurance
Have 3 years driving experience and a clean driving record
Can lift up to 45 lbs.
Current Available Shifts are:
Monday - Saturdays
Local - 7am - 11am
Suffolk - 7am - 11am
Hampton - 7am -11am
Rt.17 - 7am -1:30pm
Richmond 2pm - 7pm
On Call Shifts are:
7am-11am - 7 days a week, 1 volunteer requested
8am-12 noon 7 days a week, 1 volunteer requested
12noon - 4pm 7 days a week, 1 volunteer requested
4pm - 8pm - 7 day a week, 1 volunteer requested
You are not required to work all shifts. Schedules are flexible and according to the time available; however, if you sign up for an on call shift, we ask that you commit to the entire shift from start to finish. You are not required to work the same shifts each week; however, if available you are encourage.
After successfully completing the volunteer application and all intake steps to include background check and motor vehicle report the successful candidate would meet at the Norfolk location to pick up a Red Cross vehicle for deliveries.
