The museum seeks a volunteer to update and manage its website. The website is written in Bootstrap but we desire to have the current site converted to a widely-used web development tool such as WordPress in order to improve the ease of maintenance. A major goal is to introduce functionality improvements by reducing reliance on outside services and vendors. The scope of work is as follows:
1) Convert existing website from Boot Strap to Word Press (or other similar):
-- Use existing page content and descriptions.
-- Design changes optional if templates exist that can easily accommodate current content. Changes that make the website more mobile-friendly are highly desired.
-- Simplify website by eliminating/consolidating pages.
-- Introduce a limited number of simple, new features, mainly on the Volunteer section.
2) Assume responsibility for regular updates/maintenance.
-- Train 1 or 2 current volunteers on routine updates and maintenance to assure in-house backups.
Although work can be completed remotely, a local resident is preferred. We plan to reopen once it is feasible. Local knowledge of, and familiarity with the museum, its operations and programs would help with future updates.
Applicants should include example of websites they have developed or designed. We will provide a more detailed description of desired features and updates upon application. Time requirements depend on the ability of the applicant, but we estimate the first task to require no more than 80 hours. Deadlines are flexible. Regular maintenance should require no more than one hour per week.
