Real Change Homeless Empowerment Project

Real Change

Throughout Seattle, you've likely noticed Real Change vendors working hard to sell the award-winning weekly newspaper to customers. Yet due to COVID-19, customers are sparse and the income vendors depend upon for food is alarmingly low, or has vanished altogether.

Individuals experiencing homelessness amid this pandemic and without reliable access to food need your help. Today, you can make a HUGE impact on the life of a Real Change News vendor by donating critically needed food.

It's easy! Choose any of the below projects to join and contact us to get started:

  • Start a Food and Supply Drive!Lead a food and supply drive among friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, and more! We'll provide a list of urgently- needed items to collect, and you can do so virtually (via email, social media, etc.) or in-person by safely collecting items and scheduling a drop-off at our office!
  • Go Online!Head to our Target Wish List (link: tgt.gifts/realchangegroceries) or the online store of your choice, to donate items without ever leaving your computer! All donations can be sent directly to our office for immediate distribution: Real Change, 219 1st Ave. S., Suite 220, Seattle, WA 98104.
  • Shop! During your next trip to the grocery store, use the Grocery List we provide to add items to your cart for vendors. We'll schedule a drop-off date/time at our Seattle office that works for your schedule.
  • Cook! Do you have a passion for cooking, or do you look forward to making meals, especially for others? Sign-up to make individual meals for vendors! We recommend dropping-off no more than 50 lunches at a time, but less is also great. Popular meals have included: sack lunches, individually wrapped burritos, or your choice of meals/sides packaged in disposable to-go containers.

***Please email volunteer@realchangenews.org to provide food and impact lives today!***
