Provide Food to Individuals Experiencing Homelessness in Seattle

Real Change Homeless Empowerment Project

Real Change

Seattle is home to thousands of individuals experiencing homelessness. Among this vulnerable population are Real Change Vendors (https://www.realchangenews.org/vendor-profiles), who work hard selling an award-winning weekly newspaper on the streets of Seattle. However, due to the impacts of COVID-19, foot traffic is sparse and customers are few and far between. Today, the income vendors depended on for food and essentials, like socks, is dangerously low.
However, with the help of incredible volunteers like you, we can ensure that those living without shelter amid COVID-19 don't also go without food and basic necessities.

Please consider donating food or high-demand items to a vendor today by: shopping on the Real Change Target Wish List (found at: tgt.gifts/realchangegroceries), or any online store of your choice. Donations can be mailed directly to our Seattle office for immediate distribution, at: Real Change, 219 1st Ave. S., Suite 220, Seattle, WA 98104. Local volunteers are also welcome to shop and drop-off donations at our office!

As you shop to support vendors, you are welcome to use the below shopping list as a guide:

  • Nonperishable food that can be enjoyed without a can opener, microwave, or stove.
  • Bottled water, Gatorade, or juice
  • Brief Underwear - adult men's and women's, all sizes (with large and extra large being the most in demand, followed by medium, and then small).
  • Backpacks
  • Face Masks - cloth or disposable
  • Hand Warmers
  • Knit Gloves - adult, "one size fits all" (any color)
  • Socks - adult, men's or "one size fits all" (any color and length)
  • Wet Wipes or Face/Hand Wipes
