We are looking for a creative and patient coach to lead and/or assist with our precious Mini Hip-Hop Majorette Dance Team from August, 2020 to June, 2021.

Our new season begins on August 1st; however, due to the pandemic, we will operate virtually for the first month. Depending on what happens with schools in NYC, we may return to in-person practices in September on Saturdays from 12:30pm to 2:30pm at the Pearl Studios in the Penn Station area of Manhattan (8th Ave/West 35th). If not, we will remain virtual and coaches will schedule days/times that work for them to teach via Zoom (teaching a one hour class). We hope to recruit two coaches per team to cover one another in the event of absence and to support each other in the event that neither can commit the entire three hours per week.

The Minis are girls ages 5 to 7. As of now, the team is fairly small - about five girls, but we anticipate growing to 12 within the first month. The girls are generally beginners - with about 10% of each team's members having some form of dance experience. They love a challenge and we find that they rise to the occasion. The teams will be trained to perform and compete on local and national stages. In this pandemic season, there is a possibility to engage them in online competitions where one girl represents all of her sisters in battle.

Your responsibility would be to choreograph original routines and teach the girls. In a virtual state, you would videotape yourself breaking down the choreography and we would upload it to their private online Zoom page for them to learn on their own. On the day of scheduled practices, the girls would log on and you can watch them do the choreography - offering critiques as they dance. We have found this to be very successful over the summer while we were 100% virtual.

Experience or training in hip-hop dance OR majorette dance is mandatory. We will also consider a current high school junior or senior or recent high school graduate with significant dance experience. Our primary ask is that you be consistent. The girls will be faithful and diligent and will expect the same from their coach. Please do not apply if you cannot make the commitment to be faithful and diligent for them.
