Remote Meals on Wheels Volunteers needed!

With face masks in short supply and rightly being prioritized for medical personnel, we are accepting donated face masks that can be worn by our volunteers.

Whether you have extra commercially produced masks or would like to make your own, this is a great way you can help keep our volunteers and meal recipients safe during this pandemic. If you’re interested in making your own, check out this step-by-step guide, or, feel free to follow whatever pattern you prefer. You can check out the CDC for pattern recommendations and more information regarding face coverings and masks.

Where to drop off donated face masks:

1. All donations can be dropped at the loading dock at the Meals on Wheels Kitchen of Opportunities 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturday. The kitchen is at 3025 4th Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN.

2. Once you’ve dropped them off, give the kitchen a call at 612-767-0205 to let them know to pick them up.

If you have any questions about donating face masks, please reach out to Anita at Anita@Meals-on-wheels.com.

Thank you, and stay healthy!

About Metro Meals on Wheels

Location:

1200 Washington Ave S, Suite 380, Minneapolis, MN 55415, US

Mission Statement

Metro Meals on Wheels is the association of 32 Meals on Wheels programs in the Twin Cities metro area. With our program partners, we lead the effort to make sure people in our community receive the nutritious meals and the human connection they need to help them live independently.

Description

Meals on Wheels is a community-based service that provides fresh, nutritious meals delivered directly to the homes of seniors and individuals with disabilities throughout the Twin Cities. In addition to regularly providing healthy food, caring volunteers provide social connection that helps meal recipients remain living independently in their own homes.

With the help of Meals on Wheels programs, seniors and people with disabilities get the nourishment and human connection needed to support daily activities, while reducing the need for medical support. For some recipients, these daily meals are the difference between living in their own homes and moving to a nursing home.

Meals on Wheels could not exist without the help of volunteers who deliver the meals and donors who help those who cannot afford to pay for the meals.

Every year volunteers deliver more than a million meals in the Metro area. With over 32 locations in the Twin Cities there is sure to be a program near you! Please join us!
