We are looking for a team of committed coaches to join our artistic team and help us take the SoulDeevas' and SoulGentz' step teams to the next level!
Our new season begins on August 1st. If it is safe to return to normal practices by then, the teams will hold practice on Saturdays from 12:30pm to 2:30pm at the Pearl Studios in the Penn Station area of Manhattan (8th Ave/West 35th). If not, we will remain virtual and coaches will schedule days/times that work for them to teach via Zoom. We hope to recruit two coaches per team to cover one another in the event of absence and to support each other in the event that a three-hour weekly commitment cannot be made.
We are recruiting coaches for TWO step team divisions -
1. The Juniors (girls/boys, ages 8 to 12) - one position available 2. The Seniors (girls/boys, ages 13 to 18) - one position available 3. Collegiate (co-ed, ages 19-over) - two positions available
The boys and girls are separate teams, except for the Collegiate team, which is co-ed. Each team will have a roster of about fifteen steppers and with the exception of we generally find that they are beginners - with about 10% of each team's members having some form of step experience. They love a challenge and we find that they rise to the occasion. The teams will be trained to perform and compete on local and national stages.
While coaching experience is not critical - experience in stepping is mandatory. We will consider a recent high school graduate with significant step experience and will also consider a rising high school senior as an assistant coach for the Juniors. Our primary ask is that you be consistent. The participants will be faithful and diligent and will expect the same from their coach. Please do not apply if you cannot make the commitment to be faithful and diligent for them.
Interested candidates should respond letting us know about their step team experience and any burning questions that they have. Please tell us which of the team(s) you are interested in leading and whether you'd prefer boys or girls. We will respond immediately. Thank you for your interest and please stay safe and sane.
