VEAP- Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People

Bilingual Spanish Speakers Needed!

Are you bilingual in English and Spanish? Spanish is the primary language of more than a thousand of our visitors year-round and we need your help in supporting them! In response to COVID-19, VEAP has created a new service delivery model that ensures the health and safety of all. Our opportunities comply with current public health guidelines, don’t require experience, and are of course fun!

Open Opportunities (Ages 18+):

  • Help connect visitors to our services by setting up appointments over the phone!
  • Assist Spanish-speakers who are receiving food assistance with check-in and help ensure they have a positive experience while at VEAP!
In these roles you will be able to use your Spanish language skills as well as learn new skills, make a difference and see your impact firsthand, as well as gain insight into how food and housing insecurity affects your community.

All volunteers ages 18 or older must complete a criminal background check prior to volunteering.

Shifts are on-site at VEAP and are typically three hours in length every weekday. Phone Intake shifts begin at 9:15 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Outdoor Intake (Food Pantry) shifts begin at 8:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., and 2:15 p.m.

Mission Statement

Together, we create pathways to stronger, more hopeful, communities through access to healthy food, housing stability and supportive services.

VEAP is a basic needs and social services organization whose programs promote access to healthy foods, stable housing and transportation. VEAP’s programs are designed to address a particular need and when used together provide hope and can help avoid a financial crisis such as loss of housing, transportation or employment. Whether the hardship is from a disability, job transition, or the financial and physical stresses of aging, VEAP has been helping our neighbors in need for over 40 years in Bloomington, Richfield, and Edina.
