VEAP- Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People

Are you bilingual in English and Spanish? Spanish is the primary language of nearly 1 in 5 visitors to our food pantry and you can help support them today!

Open Opportunities (Ages 18+)

  • Help connect visitors to our services by setting up food appointments over the phone!
  • Assist Spanish-speakers who are receiving food assistance with check-in and help ensure they have a positive experience while at VEAP!

Shifts are on-site at VEAP and are typically three hours in length every weekday. All volunteers ages 18 or older must complete a criminal background check prior to volunteering.

Description

VEAP is a basic needs and social services organization whose programs promote access to healthy foods, stable housing and transportation. VEAP’s programs are designed to address a particular need and when used together provide hope and can help avoid a financial crisis such as loss of housing, transportation or employment. Whether the hardship is from a disability, job transition, or the financial and physical stresses of aging, VEAP has been helping our neighbors in need for over 40 years in Bloomington, Richfield, and Edina.

  • Bilingual Phone Intake shifts begin at 9:00, 11:30, and 2:00 Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, shifts begin at 9:00 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Food Pantry shifts start at 8:15, 11:15, and 2:15 Monday - Friday.
