Many kids are going to return to classrooms this fall. Help us make sure they’ve got the protection they need! Along with school supplies, we're providing face masks to every child. If you'd like to donate school supplies also, please head to www.swhd.org/backtoschool

Please consider making cloth face masks to support their health and safety during this difficult time.

Step 1: Follow the instructions for making the masks listed at
https://thestitchingscientist.com/2020/04/child-size-face-mask.html
If possible, please use child-friendly fun fabric, which might help them to wear the masks regularly. This could be superhero themed, animals, tie-dye or anything that children might enjoy.

Step 2: If local to the Phoenix area, masks can be dropped off Monday-Friday from 8a.m.-noon at 2850 N. 24th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85008. An in-kind donation receipt will be provided.
OR
If delivery is not possible, masks can be mailed to: Southwest Human Development, Attn: Annette Sutfin 2850 N. 24th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85008.

Step 3: If you mailed your masks and need an in-kind donation receipt, please email Annette at asutfin@swhd.org to receive one. Be sure to indicate how many masks you provided.

Thanks for the support of Arizona's children during these uncertain times!

Mission Statement

At Southwest Human Development we strive to give all children an optimal start in life with opportunities for a bright and positive future. Several decades of research clearly demonstrate that each child's earliest experiences and relationships establish the foundation for all future development - intellectual, social, emotional, physical and behavioral. A child who starts life and school with a healthy foundation is at a distinct advantage. We at Southwest Human Development are committed to creating a positive future for all young children.

Description

Founded in 1981 by early childhood educators, Southwest Human Development focuses on young children ages birth to five. Southwest Human Development serves more than 135,000 children and families each year with the goal of helping children establish a healthy foundation by preventing problems before they begin, or when they already exist, intervening as early and effectively as possible. Southwest Human Development is committed to using the latest research and best practices to create and implement its services. Young children and families rely on the organization for help through over 40 different public and private programs and projects in the following areas: child health and development; Head Start; disabilities; early literacy; and training for early childhood professionals. We are the Easter Seals affiliate for Central and Northern Arizona.
