Job Description Eating local helps to lower our carbon footprint, but growing our own produce and herbs and learning how to cook with fresh produce and preserve food also helps to lower our household food budget. The Farm Volunteer Coordinator will serve as a bridge between our highly productive urban farm and our focus on financial literacy by helping us form beneficial community partnerships to increase programming opportunities and recruit and manage volunteers who sign up to help us plant, weed and harvest fruits and vegetables at our farm. Job Duties Duties may include, but are not limited to: Plan & Execute Farm Workshops

  • Identify volunteers and community partner experts such as such as chefs and food preservation instructors who can deliver workshops
  • Collaborate with volunteer experts to develop workshop curriculum.
  • Promote these workshops through social media, canvassing, other events or partnering networks within organization’s marketing guidelines.
  • Support farm team during workshops at Splitlog Farm
Outreach efforts
  • Identify outreach opportunities that aligned with Splitlog Farm initiatives
  • Represent Splitlog Farm at community events to promote volunteer opportunities.
  • Plan, coordinate and execute neighborhood canvassing surrounding Splitlog Farm.
  • Track and document canvassing activities through photos, videos, residents reached.
  • Support farm team when contacting CSA residents.
Engage & Manage Volunteers for Splitlog Farm
  • Schedule volunteer shifts/availability with farm staff
  • Facilitate completion of appropriate forms prior to volunteer experience
  • Greet and give overview of CHWC/Splitlog Farm to volunteers when they arrive to Splitlog Farm
  • Document volunteer experiences through photos, videos, attendance
  • Track the number of volunteers and hours worked a Splitlog Farm
  • Report all volunteers experiences to CHWC VISTA Volunteer Coordinator on a timely manner.
  • Cultivate and leverage current partnerships for Splitlog Farm
  • Assist with distribution of produce to school families and nearby residents as directed by farm team.
Support in Evaluation of Volunteer Program at Splitlog Farm
  • Support farm staff and CHWC VISTA Volunteer Coordinator to develop a system for measuring the overall impact of Splitlog Farm.
  • Support farm staff and CHWC VISTA Volunteer Coordinator to develop a system for recognizing the contributions of volunteers at Splitlog Farm.
  • Collect feedback from volunteers on their experience.
  • Support implementation of program improvements based on feedback
  • Compile data on contributions and analyze the internal and external impact of the program.
