ART WORKS FOR CHANGE

Art Works For Change

Art Works for Change is a nonprofit organization that creates contemporary art exhibitions and programs to address critical social and environmental issues.

Our travelling museum exhibitions enrich local communities, and our unique online platform showcases storytelling projects that provoke dialogue and inspire action. We are seeking to create interactive storyboards for a new digital project that addresses climate change. The goal of this project is to help people visualize the impact of the climate crisis and the pathway to solving it. Your role would be (1) to augment our existing javascript deep-zoom viewer (OpenSeadragon) by adding navigation tools, and (2) update our existing OpenSeadragon Wordpress plug-in, as needed, to allow for use of the viewer.

Plus, you will get to join a fun, passionate team, working for an important cause--and build your own skills and network in the process. Remote volunteers are happily accepted.

We get a lot done for a small organization! Learn more about us in this New York Times feature: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/13/arts/design/museums-inspire-social-activism-politics.html?_r=0

Mission Statement

Art Works For Change is a nonprofit organization that creates contemporary art exhibitions to address critical social and environmental issues. We seek to harness the power of art to promote awareness, provoke dialogue and inspire action.

Description

Our museum-quality exhibitions are hosted by fine art institutions all over the world. The artists we feature educate the public and foster dialogue through the unique voice of contemporary art. Each of our exhibitions is complemented by local educational and outreach opportunities at each destination, building critical mass for social action, and leaving behind a legacy of local activism.

We also feature online exhibitions and educational programming on multiple platforms to broaden the reach of our exhibitions and connect with new audiences.
