At Compassus Hospice, we care for people who have been given the prognosis of 6 months or less to live. It is our goal to provide the best quality of life at the end of life for our patients through a holistic, person-centered approach. We are seeking volunteers who would like to make activity lap blankets and aprons for our patients living with dementia. People living with dementia still feel the need to be productive, far into the disease and activity blankets and aprons can be the way for some of them to do that. With the ability to zip, lace, button, buckle, etc., they can be occupied for a bit and feel a sense of accomplishment and contentment. If you enjoy sewing and being creative, as well as supporting those at the end of life, this might be a volunteer opportunity for you.

At Compassus Hospice, our mission is to preserve each patient’s dignity while removing the fear associated with dying through pain management, emotional and spiritual support. We deliver our care services wherever our patients call home, whether that home is a private home, an apartment, an assisted living community, a skilled nursing center or, in some cases, a hospital. Description
Compassus Hospice volunteers play a vital role in carrying out our mission to preserve each patient’s dignity while removing the fear associated with dying. Individuals who are 18 and older who are willing to share one to four hours per week are encouraged to apply to our program. Serving as a volunteer will enrich your own life in ways you can’t begin to imagine.
No previous experience in the medical field is necessary, and you will be prepared for your role with a free, comprehensive training program. This training will help you learn how to provide emotional support, companionship and respite care to patients and families.
