The American Red Cross collects blood to help save lives of patients in local hospitals. Every 2 seconds, someone needs blood, including cancer patients, trauma victims, and premature babies.
Volunteer Donor Ambassadors ensure that blood donors have a pleasant and fulfilling experience when they donate blood, from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave, to ensure they will come back and support this mission. During a blood drive, whether you’re greeting donors, answering questions or thanking them for their donation, your courtesy and professionalism will create a favorable impression that encourages ongoing donor support.
Please note we are taking safety precautions for all volunteers and staff, providing: gloves, masks, hand sanitizer, regular cleansing of surfaces, and social distancing. A 45-minute online training for this role is provided.
Why Is This Position so Important?
The Red Cross collects and distributes about 40 percent of our nation’s blood supply. When you help create a fulfilling donation experience and encourage visitors to make a long-term commitment to regular donations, you improve our ability to meet this critical need.
Shifts are available 7 days/week, as early as 7am to as late as 7pm. Shifts are about 3-4 hours each, and flexible.
