Junior Shark Tank:

Junior Shark Tank is a highly competitive Internship Program focused on systems engineering and entrepreneurship that guides up to 30 High School aged students through the ideation, planning, development and creation of a product and a resulting business. The event will take place in June through July and lasts 4 weeks. Through those 4 weeks, the students participate in a variety of instructor-led and student-led activities focused on hands-on, experiential learning. Student teams are partnered with technical and business mentors to help guide their projects. Instruction sessions are supplemented by guest lecturers from industry that come to present to the students on topics related to their area(s) of expertise. We coordinate a panel of technologists and business leaders to judge the projects at the end of the four weeks. The winning team is awarded a scholarship based on the level of contributions from our sponsors. Description

A little about SYSTEM Coalition: we started 5 years ago in Tucson, AZ. Six exceptionally talented and motivated people who wanted to give back to the community by helping k-12 students find a passion for STEM. We saw all of the poverty in our city and realized if just one of those kids from that community was able to get a great paying job in STEM, they could not only help themselves but also help their whole family break the cycle of poverty! Now the organization has over 100 volunteers, chapters in 4 different cities and growing! More than anything, being a part of this amazing organization has shown me that you really CAN change the world, one step at a time!
