Arcadia Hospice volunteers serve a very important role by visiting with patients who are at their end of life. As empathetic and caring companions, volunteers form friendships with patients and take part in activities, such as conversation, listening to music, singing, reading, praying, coloring, and playing cards or other games. Vigil volunteers are also needed to sit with a person during their last hours, especially if they are alone.
There is a significant need for veteran volunteers to connect with veteran patients.
Our patients live mostly in the Eastern Pennsylvania areas, spanning from Luzerne County to Schuylkill County and Wayne County to Northampton County.

Hospice is not a place, but rather, a philosophy of providing compassionate care to patients and families faced with terminal illness. Arcadia Hospice provides care for patients in the environment that is most comfortable for them. Whether in a patient's home, the home of a family member, an assisted living facility, or a nursing home, Arcadia Hospice works with each patient to develop the best care plan for them in the most suitable environment. As an essential part of the patient's care plan, Arcadia Hospice extends care and supports the patient and their loved ones through a team consisting of a social worker, spiritual care counselor, bereavement coordinator, and volunteers.
