Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Red Cross needs your help more than ever as fewer volunteers are able to support our critical blood collection efforts.
Red Cross Donor Ambassadors:
- Manage the reception process by ensuring each donor is warmly greeted and assisted with initial registration.
- Manage the hospitality experience by offering refreshments, thanking donors for their contribution, and alerting staff if a donor shows signs of feeling unwell.
Why is this role so important?
The Red Cross collects and provides about 40% of the nation’s blood supply to hospitals. We are in constant need of blood donations. Donor Ambassadors ensure blood donors have a positive experience at every blood drive and will return to support this life-saving activity.
Requirements:
- Ages 15+
- Feel well and being healthy
- One 4-hour shift per month
- Professional communication skills
Checking the temperature of staff and donors before entering a drive to make sure they are healthy.
Providing hand sanitizer for use before the drive, as well as throughout the donation process.
Spacing beds, where possible, to follow social distancing practices between blood donors.
Enhanced disinfecting of surfaces and equipment.
We have always practiced the highest of cleaning and disinfecting protocols. Know that we have increased the frequency and depth of those efforts to ensure the safety of our staff and volunteers alike.
