Each year in Howard County Maryland, children are abused and neglected or abandoned by their families. These children are removed from their homes and placed in foster care or institutions. That's where Voices for Children Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) come in. Our CASA volunteers work to ensure that all children have a safe and permanent home.
Training begins Monday, May 4, 2020 and runs until Monday, June 8, 2020. If you are interested in helping, please complete our application at https://voicesforchildren.org/volunteer/. Some training sessions will be live on the Zoom platform and other sessions will be on-line self-study. To be considered for training, potential volunteers must complete our application and a virtual interview. You do not need a Zoom account to attend training.
Training focuses on the dynamics of child abuse and neglect, an understanding of the court process and familiarity with community resources. After completion of training and background checks, CASA volunteers are assigned to a child through the court system.
