Serving food to the unsheltered in downtown SD

ORGANIZATION: Duwara Consciousness Foundation

The situation is getting dire in the streets of San Diego, and tensions are running high. We are serving wholesome, nutritious meals to San Diego's homeless on a daily basis during the COVID-19 lockdown, as our homeless need us now, more than ever, when other services have shut down.

In response to best practices during the COVID-19 outbreak, we are limiting our volunteers to 3-per-outing, and asking all volunteers to practice excellent hygiene (hand-washing and sanitization), as well as stay inside the food trailer during service. Because of these limitations, we are also requiring a 48-hour cancellation policy - as we need all 3 spots filled in order to effectively serve over 300 people per day!

As the state of California is on stay-at-home order for all non-essential activities, we take the position that feeding our homeless is not only essential but overwhelmingly critical. If any volunteer would like a notice to present regarding this position, we can provide it.

All volunteers should be healthy, between the ages of 18-65 and with well-functioning immune systems. We cannot guarantee the health and safety of our volunteers from coronavirus or other risks, and ask that each volunteer assess the risks individually or consult a healthcare professional. All volunteers should be illness-free, without cough, fever, sneeze, etc.

Please find us on Facebook, Instagram, and Linkedin for more information about what we do.
