Children often become victims of abuse and neglect, abandon, or lose their parents to incarceration or death. When that happens family may step in to prevent the children from winding up in Foster Care. Grandparents and other kin take on the primary financial and parental role of these children. We support them with resources, ongoing peer support, and social activities by creating a community of Grand Families.
We are seeking volunteers to support the ongoing programs that support these families. A variety of ongoing skills are needed. Fundraising, Event planning, and help with day-to-day operation.
Seeking a volunteer that will take an interest in helping the efforts of a rapidly growing non-profit organization. Someone interested in a learning opportunity and expand their skills and knowledge. With the potential to be a paid staff member.
A variety of opportunities to work with youth, older adults, and non-profit experience.

Description
Grandparents and other Kin raising grandchildren or other kin, have experienced trauma, the child welfare system, loss of a family member due to drugs/alcohol abuse and or mental illness and more. Through our own experiences we know that resources and services are not always easily accessible and often times kinship caregivers are not aware of the services that are offered, isolating these families from each other and the resources they need. Our programs are designed to provide educational opportunities, community connection to others in their situation, resources and a bit of respite from their grandchildren/kin.
We know we can do this. But we don't have to do it alone.
We hope to inspire the children to be involved as well as the caregiver, giving kinship families a chance to acquaint themselves with others in their situation. We accomplish this by organizing gatherings which allow them to be involved as they feel comfortable. We've created a space to be social and supportive.
