As community centers, food pantries and food banks close across the area, many older adults - including seniors at our Leola Dorsey Community Resource Center - are feeling the loss of the meals that these locations provide. Your gift of a grocery store gift card from Safeway, Giant, or Whole Foods, will help to keep them fed. Our staff will happily assist the residents with ordering from these locations online.

As part of a national organization, we strive to fill the communitiesâ human service needs through a dedicated team of staff and volunteers and to encourage self-reliance, dignity and hope. We coordinate our efforts with other agencies and local organizations to maximize the impact of our work.

Volunteers of America Chesapeake, founded in 1896 in Baltimore, is the locally chartered affiliate of Volunteers of America, one of the nation's largest and most comprehensive human services organizations. The organization accomplishes its spiritually based mission by serving over 10,000 people annually through our programs that spread geographically from Baltimore, Maryland to Virginia Beach, Virginia. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, VOA Chesapeake operates 24 programs that are locally created, managed and delivered to address our community's most pressing social needs. Our professional staff of more than 500 employees partners with hundreds of volunteers, local governments, business and civic organizations, and the faith community, to affect positive changes in people's lives.
