ORGANIZATION: Waypoint Services

The National Network to End Domestic Violence reports that 99% of domestic violence victims experience financial abuse with in their abusive relationship. For women in particular, domestic violence is a leading cause for homelessness. In order to mitigate the impact of financial abuse, survivors need access to information and resources that increase their financial health and access to safe housing. Last year, Waypoint served 2,709 survivors of domestic violence and 2,939 individuals who experienced homelessness in last fiscal year. The VISTA will work with adult survivors of domestic violence and individuals experiencing homelessness with high barriers to securing housing by facilitating financial literacy and housing education. They will support efforts to implement a "train the trainer" course for volunteers to expand the availability of classes and marketing efforts to reach potential participants via booths, presentations, and other outreach activities. The VISTA will help build capacity within our own agency by training and supporting volunteers. Having volunteers trained to facilitate classes will allow direct service staff to focus on crisis intervention and one-on-one support with clients.

This is a full-time, year-long position that comes with a paid stipend from AmeriCorps. For more information and to apply, visit https://my.americorps.gov/mp/listing/viewListing.do?id=93737&fromSearch=true
