In need of Spanish speaking mentors in order to support our youth in every way that we can.
Through the Safe Harbour Mentoring Program, you would not only be helping a youth by being a much needed support in their lives, but would also be aiding in the development of your own sense of self as you learn and grow through this experience. We are currently seeking trustworthy individuals from all walks of life-experience or not, who want to make a difference.
We are currently accepting applications, interviewing, and beginning mentor training sessions.
This is a one year time commitment, however, all we ask is for 4 hours of your time per month. We are looking for volunteers who have a passion for helping vulnerable populations and have the desire to learn. Because the population we work with has been through so much, we do require about 10 hours of training on various topics to ensure that our mentors have the information they need to grow a mutually respectful friendship with their mentee.
We are on a mission to be a part of the healing process for these survivors and eliminate risk factors for those who may be heading that way without even knowing it. We need you! In response to COVID-19, we remain committed to the development of this service while also adhering to critical measures that ensure the safety and health of clients and staff. We are still accepting Mentor applications!

About EAC Network Safe Harbour
80 Wheeler Road, Central Islip, NY 11722, US
Safe Harbour Mentoring Program is designed to provide our survivors and at risk youth of commercial sex trafficking with a mentor who will assist them in recognizing their numerous strengths and encourage them to reclaim their identity as strong, worthy human beings while developing healthy and constructive relationships.
The Suffolk County Child Advocacy Center of EAC Inc, established the Safe Harbour program in 2014, as a response to the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) in Suffolk County, NY.
Currently, Safe Harbour provides youth who have been trafficked or sexually exploited as well as youth demonstrating potential risk-factors, with immediate crisis intervention, case management, medical and mental health assessments, as well as with referrals for additional services and residential placements.
The Safe Harbour Mentoring Program is a new program, developed to provide our survivors and youth, with a trustworthy individual that will empower them in recognizing their strengths, while developing constructive and healthy relationships. We are excited to bring this new chapter to our organization and look forward to having you help support our youth in building their confidence and continuing their healing journey.
