We are looking for friendly and reliable volunteers to make regular friendship calls to unpaid carers or the person they care for to reduce social isolation and keep them part of the community
What the role entails:
- Making telephone calls to the UK (we are unable to pay call charges)
- Making phone calls to a person, or a number of people, as agreed with your coordinator.
- Checking on their wellbeing.
- Respecting the confidentiality of your conversations.
- Having an awareness of safeguarding issues
- Discovering any concerns that your contact person may have. These will not necessarily be safeguarding concerns, but could relate to their food supply or need for repeat prescriptions, etc.
- Reporting any concerns to your coordinator.
- Storing your contact phone number(s) and any notes you make securely in accordance with data protection principles.
- Encouraging your contact person(s) to adhere to safe social distancing and social isolation practices.

Skills, experience and qualities we look for:
- You need access to a quiet space where you can make phone calls and a phone with free call time which allows you to call the UK as we are unable to pay call charges
- Good listening skills
- The ability to work from home, but as part of a team, to support your contact(s).
- If you can communicate in a language other than English, this would be great.
Each applicant will be subject to a reference check.

- Background Check
- Must be at least 18
- Orientation or Training
- We fully appreciate anytime that you can give. We are very flexible with our volunteer's availability and will work with you to accommodate any barriers.
- We are unable to pay call charges therefore you must have a phone contract which allows you to make calls to the UK within your free minutes. A reference check will be required for all upcoming volunteers.
