We are looking for friendly and reliable volunteers to visit unpaid carers or the people they care for aged 18+ who may have a range of health conditions and disabilities, on a regular weekly basis to offer social and emotional support.

As a Community befriender you will take on a number of simple yet crucial tasks, ranging from (though not limited to):

  • Offering social and emotional support.
  • Accompanying to appointments, trips, social groups or trips.
  • Well-being visits.
  • Creating rapport with others.
  • Reporting any concerns or issues to the Volunteer Coordinator.

Personal Qualities we look for:

  • Punctuality and flexibility.
  • Empathy and a friendly & sensitive approach.
  • Excellent listening skills and an ability to build a rapport.
  • A good understanding of confidentiality and the respect of others' privacy.
  • The ability to respect others personal choice of lifestyles, ensuring that equal opportunities are applied.

Please note each applicant will need to complete a reference & (paid for) DBS check, alongside of attending an induction.
