Food Rescuers Needed! Volunteer with Rescuing Leftover Cuisine Massachusetts (RLCMA) to transport excess food and meals prepared specifically for donation from businesses to human service agencies, permanent housing residents and students' families who are experiencing food insecurity.

  • All ages welcome!
  • Eligibility and safety guidelines have been put in place to ensure everyone's safety.
  • Volunteer individually or as a team! Invite your family, friends, co-workers, etc. to help you help people!
  • Sign up for Rescue Events Boston, East Boston, Dorchester, Roxbury and throughout the Greater Boston Area; as well as Cambridge, Somerville, Medford and all around Middlesex and Norfolk Counties.
  • Rescue Events take place 24/7. All you need is a standard size vehicle, kindness and a smile!
  • An average event provides 35 healthy meals for people in need and takes about an hour!

The mission of RLC is to redistribute excess food to feed people experiencing food insecurity.

Description

Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit food rescue organization. RLC uses a custom web application to crowdsource community members as "Rescuers" to transport excess food from food donor partners to nonprofit recipients, feeding people instead of landfills.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Driver's License Needed
  • Each Rescue Event delivering to a human service agency averages 45-60 minutes of time start to finish. Events which involve delivering meals to 3-5 homes typically average 2 hours to complete and they are located in the same neighborhood.
