Do you want to help the community but don't know how because of social distancing or quarantine (or you just don't want to be around people)?

What about making a card or sending a postcard or card to someone in a nursing home? These folks are on lockdown in their residences to prevent them from contracting covid19, but it also means they're being isolated and are very lonely without the support from their families and volunteers.

Hospice patients and residents at these facilities would so appreciate a note from you! Knowing that you care about them, and that they're not alone would really make their day. Your note will take their mind away from this situation where they have no control.

Please contact me if you'd like to send a card or a thousand cards and I'll give you some facility addresses where the residents are just waiting to hear from you.

Ways you can Help:

  • Send a note
  • Mail a postcard
  • Take a picture of your pet to show off
  • Make some individual, incredible art and mail it
  • Write a poem and share it
  • Create a meaningful message of hope and put it out there
  • Scrawl a favorite Bible verse

Hospice is about living life to the fullest with dignity and comfort. Volunteers are an integral part, and are a fully integrated component, of our Brookdale hospice teams. Volunteering is more about BEING than DOING - it's about listening and offering support to our patients - it's about helping them tell their story.

Our Goals of Hospice are: self-determined life closure; a natural death; safe and comfortable dying; effective grieving.
