Prelude Clubhouse is an affiliate of Clubhouse International, an award-winning psychiatric recovery program located in 34 countries around the world for adults with mental illness, offering socialization, meaningful work, and a way to transition back to employment, education, and a more productive lifestyle.

The psycho-social approach of the Clubhouse model emphasizes the importance of building relationships during a structured, work-ordered day. Members and staff work side-by-side to perform all the tasks necessary to run the Clubhouse, take time for wellness activities and healthy lunches, and enjoy monthly after-hours social events for fun and fellowship. Members are not considered "patients" or "clients" but participate in all decision-making relating to Clubhouse daily operations.

By utilizing the strengths and abilities of our members and fostering the development of strong relationships, Prelude Clubhouse offers individuals with mental illness a way to increase self-confidence, use skills and talents they already have and acquire new ones, work towards independence, reduce isolation and hospitalizations, and effectively reach their personal goals.

Prelude Clubhouse first opened in February of 2017 in McKinney, Texas but is now located at 1905 E. Parker Road in Plano, Texas inside the Collin Creek Church, on a DART line. It is not affiliated with any religious organization and accepts people from all faiths and racial and ethnic backgrounds. We serve adults ages 18 years and older in Collin and surrounding counties. A diagnosis of a mental illness, a desire to work towards recovery, and a completed Membership Application Form signed by a mental health professional indicating that a Clubhouse environment and the individual are a good match for each other are the only requirements necessary for a membership. The program is offered free and a healthy lunch, prepared and served daily by our members, costs $1.50.

Presently, we are relying on professional staff, a few highly dedicated volunteers, and individual financial contributions. We have grown quickly and are currently open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

We are looking for a Volunteer Staff Generalist wanting to share the gift of time assisting the Executive Director and Staff while working side-by-side with our Members, encouraging and supporting them during their work-ordered day. A four hour shift minimum is required, and a willingness to help end the stigma of mental illness while being supportive of the Member's recovery.
