Volunteer Providers are licensed mental health professionals who set aside one session per week for one year for a free client in the populations of their choice, starting with the military population. Services may be provided by phone, in person or using HIPAA compliant telehealth platform (provided at no charge). There is a critical need to effectively respond to the mental health needs of trauma victims and by harnessing the skills and generosity of mental health professionals, together we can provide those in need with help and hope.
We are seeing an increased strain on our military personnel and their loved ones, as the situation continues to develop, please help us to serve those who serve.
Providers simply sign up on our website as ready and available to assist someone when the need arises. Not all mental health professionals will have a client all year, and not all providers choose to give therapy hours as their time! Many different types of providers sign up to work with GAH, but all must be licensed to provide therapy. There is a high need for video counseling by all licensed mental health professionals and we need your help.
In addition to direct counseling, Give an Hour’s providers work to reduce the stigma associated with mental health treatment and encourage care for our mental well-being and the mental well-being of others.
The commitment is flexible and Give an Hour works with you to ensure you are receiving the information, training and tools to be successful including:
- Free Continuing Education
- Free and discounted tools such as Therapy Notes, ReGroup Therapy virtual platform, listing on major referral sources
- Free opportunities to connect with experts and professionals in your area of interest

Opportunities are available for non-licensed volunteers as well!

REQUIREMENTS
- Providers offer 1 hour per week for one year. Not all providers will have a client for this time frame. Clients may be seen in person, via phone or video counseling.
- You must be fully licensed by a mental health regulation body in the District of Columbia to qualify for this volunteer role.
