Light The Night Executive Committee Member- Volunteer Position
Introduction
At The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), we're passionate about our mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS volunteers help carry out this mission in so many ways: supporting patients, family members, healthcare professionals, and our community, driving policy advocacy, participating in our campaigns, and helping LLS build much needed capacity.
What is Light The Night?
At Light The Night, it is our aim to bring light to the darkness of cancer through research and cures.
Light The Night is a series of fundraising campaigns benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's
(LLS) funding of research to find blood cancer cures. We bring hope instead of despair by working to ensure access to treatments for all blood cancer patients. We bring communities together to celebrate those who are fighting the disease and to honor those we have lost. We are taking steps to end cancer. WE LIGHT THE NIGHT.
Purpose
The purpose of this role is to secure new partners within the community as sponsors and corporate teams. Executive Committee Members help LLS drive NEW REVENUE and help Light The Night achieve its financial goals.
Position Tasks
Personally
o Conduct a personal fundraising campaign as part of the Executive Challenge
o Make a meaningful personal gift
At Your Company
o Serve as a top four tier sponsor
o Serve as a top fundraising company by leading a corporate team and a business partner campaign
In The Community
o Host a table of your peers at the Corporate Recruitment Event to recruit new corporations as
sponsors and fundraising teams.
o Recruit 1 new sponsor and 2 new fundraising teams
Desired Skills
o A sincere interest in making a difference in the lives of blood cancer patients
o Willingness to share information about Light The Night and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
with personal and corporate contacts and seek the involvement and participation of others
o Strong communication and relationship building skills
o Strong goal-orientation
o Assertive and comfortable in a leadership role
Shift Times
Flexible, but must be able to attend Committee meetings and LTN events.

Time Commitment
The Executive Committee begins to meet several months before the Light The Night event. Committee members invest several hours a month leading up to the event and then approximately 4-6 hours the day of the event.

Training
LLS will provide an orientation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as well as an introduction to the Light The Night campaign. A staff member will guide the committee and be available to assist volunteers.

Description
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's South Florida and Puerto Rico Region was founded in 1972 to serve residents who have been touched by one of the blood cancers: leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. The region serves Miami-Dade, Broward, Monroe, Palm Beach, Highlands, Indian River, Marin, Okeechobee and Saint Lucie counties in Florida and Puerto Rico.
