The IPU Supoort Volunteer is responsible for carrying out the duties assigned by the Volunteer Coordinator to increase patient's level of comfort and social interaction, as well as providing emotional support for the families. The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- visiting patients in inpatient units
- engaging in patient interests and hobbies
- supporting families by offering respite or errand running
- supporting IPU by answering call lights.
Sacred Journey Hospice is currently still seeking volunteers for this position and has implemented policies to ensure that staff, volunteers and patients are protected from COVID-19.

Description
Sacred Journey Hospice has been locally owned and operated since its creation in 2001. Founded by four oncology nurses and a physician assistant who saw a need in the community, Sacred Journey was the first hospice in our area and remains one of the longest running and most experienced hospices in Atlanta. We have created a welcoming and caring environment in our inpatient unit and our clinical team provides compassionate care in your home or ours. In 2016, Jack Draughon became the President and owner, and we remain locally owned and operated with several of the founders still active in day to day operations and with active RN licenses. Both we and our non-profit arm, the Sacred Journey Hospice Foundation, support our local community through educational programs, scholarships, and events.
