Ever wanted to help save a life? This is an amazing volunteer opportunity to deliver life-saving blood to those in need. Be our mission in action by helping others when they need it most.
Blood is needed by patients in hospitals every 2 seconds. To meet this need, the American Red Cross collects, tests, and distributes blood to over 40 hospitals in the Bay Area. Volunteer drivers are needed 7 days/week to make sure this blood gets to patients in need.
As a Driver, you will deliver pre-packaged life-saving blood products from the American Red Cross blood center to hospitals, using a Red Cross-owned vehicle.
Time Commitment: At least 2 shifts/month (typical shift is 3-4 hours)
Shifts are available 7 days/week, in 4-hour blocks of time, mornings, afternoons, evenings
Qualifications:
- Have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
- At least 18 years old
- Can lift a box from a vehicle to a hand cart (may weigh up to 45 lbs.)
This is a great opportunity to volunteer with a family member - drivers can be assisted by Navigators, who can ride in the vehicle and assist with directions or in any other way needed. Navigators can be any age 13+. Masks, hand sanitizer, and other sanitary items will be provided for any volunteers.
