We are in need of volunteers to help us distribute food. Can you help?
During Illinois’ Shelter in Place order, our food pantry is remaining open as an emergency food provider.
At this time, our food pantry has been modified for the safety of clients, volunteers, and staff; clients stay in their vehicle and pre-packed food is placed in their trunk. Any communication with clients is conducted through their cracked vehicle window. Other health protocols are in place, including social distancing of volunteers, sanitizing work spaces and carts regularly, and hygiene and sanitation practices.
Any volunteers who have been outside the country within the last 14 days, have a cough, or have a fever should remain home at this time.
How you can help:
Restocking the pantry, packing standard bags of food, directing clients to park in the lot, asking basic questions to clients through their cracked car window, and loading bags of groceries into trunks of cars.
Volunteers must be able to lift a bag of groceries and stay on their feet for 3 hours in a fast-paced environment.
When we need your help:
- Monday, 8-Noon
- Tuesday, 8-Noon
- Wednesday, 7:30-Noon OR 5:30-8:45pm
- Friday, 7:30-Noon
- Saturday, 8:30-Noon
