Want to play a key role in getting nutritious meals to seniors and people with disabilities in our community? Volunteering at the Kitchen of Opportunities is a great way to help!
The Meals on Wheels Kitchen of Opportunities is the first kitchen dedicated to providing meals to Twin Cities Meals on Wheels programs and is located in south Minneapolis. Volunteers are needed to help with tasks such as wrapping bread rolls, chopping vegetables, scooping cookie dough, and assembling meals for daily delivery. Volunteers play a key role in enabling the kitchen to produce up to 1,500 meals per day for people in need.
If you are looking for a way to volunteer with Meals on Wheels that doesn't rely on operating a vehicle, this is a great opportunity. Kitchen shifts are available 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and up to five people can volunteer during a 1.5- to 2-hour shifts.
Our goal is to fill ALL of our open shifts, everyday. Thank you for helping us keep up with the increased need for Meals on Wheels here in the Twin Cities!
We use a website called Volunteer Hub that allows our kitchen volunteers to self-manage their own schedule.
Please follow this link- https://meals-on-wheels.volunteerhub.com/events/index to get started. It will ask you to create an account as a first time user, then you can sign up for whichever shifts you’d like. It also allows you to log in at any time to cancel/reschedule shifts. When someone signs up or cancels a shift, we get notified as well and will then add you to our schedule!

Mission Statement
Metro Meals on Wheels is the association of 32 Meals on Wheels programs in the Twin Cities metro area. With our program partners, we lead the effort to make sure people in our community receive the nutritious meals and the human connection they need to help them live independently.
Description
Meals on Wheels is a community-based service that provides fresh, nutritious meals delivered directly to the homes of seniors and individuals with disabilities throughout the Twin Cities. In addition to regularly providing healthy food, caring volunteers provide social connection that helps meal recipients remain living independently in their own homes.
With the help of Meals on Wheels programs, seniors and people with disabilities get the nourishment and human connection needed to support daily activities, while reducing the need for medical support. For some recipients, these daily meals are the difference between living in their own homes and moving to a nursing home.
Meals on Wheels could not exist without the help of volunteers who deliver the meals and donors who help those who cannot afford to pay for the meals.
Every year volunteers deliver more than a million meals in the Metro area. With over 32 locations in the Twin Cities there is sure to be a program near you! Please join us!
