Hey there!

Finding yourself with a little free time? Send cheerful, handwritten cards to our elders! These are fun, one-way, one-time letters, not an ongoing pen-pal commitment. Due to COVID-19’s impact on services and visits, many older adults would benefit from friendly connections during this deeply isolating time. The health impacts of loneliness are significant; chronic loneliness has the equivalent health effect as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Now is the time to reach out to our most vulnerable. Can you, or anyone you know, help us?

Please let me know which of these you are able to do:

  • One time:
    • I can send 10 cards this week, and provide my own stamps.
    • I can send 25 or more cards this week, and provide my own stamps.
    • I can do even more! Let’s chat! (If you can commit to 50 or greater cards total, we can asssist with postage :D )
  • Ongoing:
    • I/my group can send X cards per week, for the duration of the COVID-19 shelter-in-place mandates for the US - let’s chat!

After replying with whichever scenario you’re up for, I will send you details about how to proceed.

Please help spread the word, & help us make a difference in someone’s life today!

Thank you,

Amber & the Social Call / Well Connected Team!

Mission Statement

Covia promotes and cultivates healthy communities for positive aging through an innovative continuum that actively supports the whole person.

Description

Growth, Compassion, Innovation, Commitment, Service. The core outreach programs of Covia Community Services - Senior Resources, Market Day, Well Connected , and Social Call- each address unmet needs of seniors. They provide essentials such as emergency financial assistance, affordable produce, and links to critical services. Covia volunteers also serve in our communities, from Pacific Grove to Santa Rosa, engaging residents and staff by providing companionship, care, and support. The programs also provide intangibles that may prove to be more essential such as affording these adults an improved quality of life, a sense of community, the joy of knowing they are cared for, and a renewed purpose.
