Volunteer Grounds Keeper
ORGANIZATION: JACKSONVILLE AREA SEXUAL MINORITY YOUTH NETWORK INC
Please visit the new page to apply.
JASMYN recently opened our 3rd facility on our Jacksonville campus. All three facilities are adjacent properties on a corner, so we share a common fenced yard area and each has a small street facing yard area as well.
Here is what we regularly need:
tree and bush trimming
grass cutting
trash pick up
porches blown and sometimes power washed
back yard upkeep
possibly small handyman type tasks as well, for the right person
The upkeep is bolstered by some volunteer groups who come to do plantings or paint when needed, approximately 3 x per year, for the organization. But right now we are seeking a volunteer to come at your leisure (with some restrictions) and maintain our grounds on a regular basis (every other week or monthly).
JASMYN values diversity, respect and integrity in our staff and volunteers. Please be ready to offer references.

Mission Statement
JASMYN supports LGBTQ young people by creating safe space, providing health and wholeness services, and offering youth development opportunities, while bringing people and resources together to promote equality and human rights.
Description
JASMYN began as a support group started by LGB teens at the Willowbranch Library in 1993. They sought peers who were also in the community, and engaged adults to facilitate the groups. When it became apparent that the group was large enough and had needs beyond what an hour each week could provide, the adults incorporated JASMYN as a nonprofit and ran it as volunteers until 1998. At that point, Cindy Watson was hired as the first Director and she started expanding the vision of the organization.
In 2019, JASMYN celebrated 25 years of serving LGBTQ young people in Jacksonville with health services, student opportunity, housing support and community engagement. In that time, it has grown to a 23 person staff, with a 3 building campus and two Boards, one for properties and one for operations.
Cindy Watson remains the CEO, having visualized and brought to fruition an organization that has served more than 20,000 young people so far.
