A Wider Circle’s Essential Support program focuses on providing basic need items for the home such as furniture, linens, kitchen items, and toys to our neighbors seeking to rise out of poverty. With the help of volunteers like you, A Wider Circle is able to furnish 20 homes free of charge each day for our neighbors in need - that's 4,500 families served each year!

We are seeking committed volunteers who are passionate about service and able to deliver high standards of professionalism to assist the families we serve as they select their items. You will help complete intake paperwork with clients and provide one-on-one attention while families shop for furniture and household items. Working with clients can sometimes involve high stress situations and difficult emotional stories. We want our volunteers to be able to handle these situations and treat clients with compassion and love.

Speaking another language is not required, but we are seeking volunteers who are fluent in Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, Farsi, Pashto, Dari, and Arabic.

Mission Statement

This mission of A Wider Circle is simple: to end poverty for one individual and one family after another

Description

A Wider Circle is a 501(c)(3) grassroots nonprofit organization that provides holistic support to families in need. We furnish the homes of children and adults who are transitioning out of domestic violence or homeless shelters, or who are simply living without what most of us take for granted - beds, dressers, sheets, towels, and other basic need items. We offer educational programs on topics ranging from job skills and money management to stress management and other life skills. We also provide wrap-around support to those seeking to enter or re-enter the workforce, including professional attire, education, and one-on-one support. We work with the most vulnerable among us, and we do whatever we can do to help them move toward stability and independence.
