In this project we are closely working with government however we sometimes work with private sector. This approach allow us to bring an impact to the very needy group at the very same time create a huge experience to the participants/volunteers.

Our program coordinators have a big role of overseeing if the program standards are met at the workplace and hostel or host family.
Basically we do have set an agreement with these public hospital which ensure volunteer program requirements are met.
In most cases normal working hours are from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm with 30 min - 45 min lunch break however there is an option to extend working hours should the participant be interested to do so.

For those programs which are just nearby our hostel or host family have an option of getting lunch at the hostel/host family.
usually volunteers use public transport as a means for transport to placement area, Groups travelling together have an option of making use of organisation vehicle
In each program we have supervisors within the government institution itself, our coordinator work closely with supervisors

Description

GTL started its activities in Kilimanjaro, initially we had one office located just adjacent to Ushirika University.
At present we operate across different regions in Tanzania. We have big hostels in Kilimanjaro and Arusha. We have offices in Kilimajaro and Arusha (HQ) as well.

We have a number of volunteer programs such as construction projects, environment projects, youth projects which are completely run and administered by our organisation, these projects are funded by our organisation through the support of our donors.

On other hand, we are working with government institutions such as schools, hospitals, agriculture dept in programs such as healthcare programs, teaching programs, agriculture programs however we also work with few private sectors this approach allow us to bring impact to the very needy group.

Each GTL volunteer program is designated to produce meaningful experience to our participants and at the same time cause a huge impact to the local community. While the volunteer program is underway we make assessment to ascertain if organisation goals and participant expectations are met

  • We normally recommend participant to spend at least four(4) weeks. Our main goal is to ensure that it's a good experience for the volunteers.
