Do you sew and have a few hours weekly to use your skills to help families who have recently lost a loved one? Bridges Community Hospice is seeking creative volunteers to develop a memory bear and pillow program for our hospice program. Creating a memory bear or pillow from articles of clothing help families keep memories close in a special, individualized way.
Volunteers will be provided with the patient’s clothing items, patterns, polyester stuffing, safety eyes and other items needed to make a bear or a pillow. Once completed, bears or pillows will be presented to surviving family members. Volunteers may work on this assignment as their schedule allows, returning a completed bear within 2-3 weeks.
Experienced fiber artists are needed to evaluate patterns and develop procedures for this program and lead other volunteers as they create special memories for families.
