JOB DESCRIPTION
Location: Special Olympics Florida - Miami Dade
Supervisor: Sr. Regional Manager, Non-Competitive Programs
Job Role:
The Non-Competitive Programs Intern, is responsible for assisting with the oversight of Special Olympics Florida’s Young Athletes and MATP Program.
Qualifications:
- Excellent written and presentation skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate efficient time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong data base management skills
- Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Regular attendance required
Responsibilities:
- Maintain current knowledge of Special Olympics Florida program rules, policies and procedures.
- Work with Sr. Regional Manager of Non-Competitive Programs to Identify and recruit schools and agencies not yet participating in Special Olympics to begin YAP and MATP programs, maintaining up-to-date contact list.
- Asssist with planning and execution of culminating events including securing venues, purchasing necessary equipment, supplies and rentals, brand implementation, entertainment, meals, t-shirts and EMT.
- Collaborate with Sports Manager to identify athletes and programs that are appropriate for the traditional sports program and assist with transition as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- 10-15 hours a week
