Location: Special Olympics Florida - Miami-Dade County office
Supervisor: Regional Manager, Community Engagement
Job Role:
The Community Engagement intern, is a key point of contact for local volunteers and is responsible for facilitating recruitment and volunteer management in the area. He or she is also responsible for assisting with various outreach activities as implemented by development and sport teams.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing BS/BA degree (preferred)
- Excellent written and presentation skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate efficient time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Regular attendance required
- Maintain current knowledge of Special Olympics Florida policies and procedures.
- Assist with volunteer, internship and federal work study program including:
- Recruitment of volunteers for Special Olympics South Florida sporting competitions and fundraising events.
- Coordinate implementation of family engagement programs.
- Update calendar of outreach events and assist with volunteer outreach materials
- Assist with onboarding process as needed for internship and federal work study employees
- Maintain volunteer records, paperwork and statistics
- Coordinate implementation of volunteer appreciation program
- Assist in the coordination of special events, including donor/volunteer appreciation events or fundraising initiatives.
- Assist with planning the annual Coach’s Conferences.
- Other duties as assigned
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- 10-15 hours a week
