Robotics

Edu-Futuro Internal Robotics Cup will bring together students from our five robotics clubs in Arlington and Fairfax counties. The students will get the chance to compete in the competition while also meeting other students, working as a team, and utilizing the programming skills they developed during the school year. We will need volunteer judges for the different components of the competition, as well as coaches to guide teams through the various challenges.

Core Values/Teamwork Judge (noon -- 3:00 pm)

  • Judges will be responsible for measuring teams implementation of the FIRST Lego League Core Values (Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, Teamwork, Fun) in a team challenge and presentation.
Research Judge (noon -- 3:00 pm)
  • Judges will be responsible for reviewing the team’s research project based on a clear definition of a problem, innovation of proposed solution, and creative presentation of the solution.
Robot Game/Design Judge (noon -- 3:00 pm)
  • Judges will be responsible for overseeing how students complete robotics challenges and awarding points based on how challenges are completed. It is helpful, but not required for Robot Game Judges to have a basic familiarity with robotics or a background in STEM.

Description

Edu-Futuro is a non-profit organization founded in 1998 by Bolivian parents and educators to address the educational needs of the growing Latino population. We offer programs that empower immigrant families through education. We offer: the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) which is a youth leadership and college preparation program, 9-12 Grades; STEM/Robotics, upper elementary, middle school, and high school (4-12); as well as parent and family programs. And we welcome volunteers in all our programs!
